Did Cain get punished for the murder of Abel, or are you being punished for Cains murder of Abel?

Unless you are referencing the 'mark of Cain' (i.e., the Oberman/Uberman) as addressed by Nietzche and/or Hesse, this question seems only biblical (and not even theological). As such, I'm not sure it should be in the philosophy section. Theological questions should, but I think biblical should be put in the other section.
