Automatic to Manual?

I just recevied an email saying it would cost 2,200 dollars. I think that is good, it's being done by pro's. not someone in their garage. Hawks Third Gen specializes in my car type. a 1990 Firebird V6. People just say buy one with an manual already in it, but mines has Trans Am ground affects with low miles on it. So i was just wondering does this sound like a good idea.
