Do they put you to sleep when removing your appendix (Appendicitis)?

Well, normally with appendicitis you have a fever, you don't eat, you don't like to move around much and the pain will usually start out at the belly on and move to the right side. Since it is a sharp pain in your left upper hip it is probably not appendicitis (but for surgury they do put you to sleep) Depending on your age and symptoms you could have a kidney stone, diverticulosis, bowel obstruction or nothing.
