Does psychosis necessarily entail hallucinations and delusions?
can there be a "loss of contact with reality" without hallucinations and delusions? What if you're distracted by your thoughts and you're jumping from one idea to the next in your mind so much that you can't focus on your environment. I'm not talking about being distracted by your surroundings (ADD) or a momentary lack of awareness (tunnel vision or anxiety), I mean a kind of mental disturbance where you can't focus on anything but your thoughts (so much that you need to count repeatedly in your head so you can concentrate on something) - would this constitute psychosis?
