What is the different between Plessy v. Ferguson and Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka?

In 1896 the U.S Supreme Court tried the case Plessy v. Ferguson and ruled in favor of the constuitionality of racial segregation under the premise "separate but equal". It wasn't until 1954, with the Brown v. Board case where the "separate but equal" doctrine was overturned.
